Patna, Feb 10 : Moved by the plight of a seven-year-old boy forced to earn a living for himself and his two younger cousins in a village of Bihar's Saran district, NRIs have come forward to support him.
Govinda dropped out of school and did odd jobs to feed himself and his cousins Sonu, 5, and Pinky, 3, after his mother's death. He was deserted by his father at Sonepur village in Saran district, about 50 km from here.
He sought support from some villagers but in vain.
Now that his plight has been publicised, over a dozen NRIs have offered support to Govinda. "NRIs approached us to help Govinda to get out of this difficult situation," said Rajesh Kumar Thakur, a reporter in a Hajipur newspaper. He had highlighted Govinda's plight last week.
Thakur said Britain-based NRIs Upendra Mane, Joyti Balraj, Chandra K. Sekhar and US-based Rim Jhim Kapoor have offered to help Govinda.
