Patna, (Bihar Times): The ministry of defence has given its approval to Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Gaya district of Bihar on the lines of its Chennai-based training institution for short service officers.
Reports from New Delhi said the defence ministry has approved the proposal of army to have a new OTA in Bihar and the new institution will be ready for in-take of officer recruits in a year from now.
Defence ministry sources said that the new OTA is expected to hasten the process of theArmy’s attempts to fill the 11,000-odd vacancies in its officer cadre and it will, in the initial days, provide training to 300 officers entering the service through Short Service Commission (SSC) scheme.
Gaya has a military station with facilities already existing there to have a training institution. But some important facilities such as swimming pool, physical training centres and war-training location for the cadets need to be put in place and the work has started to have them ready before the new OTA is commissioned.
