Patna, (Bihar Times): American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) has launched a programme to train rural medical practitioners in the identification and treatment of several killer diseases. Under the programme, doctors affiliated to AAPI, will train rural health workers in early detection of six diseases: heart, diabetes, AIDS, tuberculosis, maternal care and allergy. These are major killer diseases in the country.
The programme will initially start as a pilot project in the three states of Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat and after assessment of results will be duplicated across the country, the Association’s President Dr Sanku Rao said at a press conference in New Delhi on Friday.
The Association is also organising the second Indo-US Health Summit in New Delhi from January 3, which is to be attended by representatives from Central and state governments along with several medical professionals from both the public and private sectors.
