Patna, Jan 9 : At least four Dalit children died of measles in a Bihar village during the last five days, an official said.
The children died in Saidpur village of Vaishali district. The deaths created panic as nearly a dozen children are reportedly still suffering from the disease.
Vaishali Civil Surgeon A.K. Sinha said a team of doctors has been rushed to the village for treatment of the children.
Also, local officials have been asked to confirm the number of deaths caused due to measles, he added.
"Till date, no report of deaths has been officially received from Saidpur," Sinha said.
Last week, five children of Darbhanga district died of measles. Initially health officials, including the district civil surgeon, said the kids died of cold.
But after the deaths were reported in the media, a medical team was sent for investigation and it concluded that the children died of measles.
