Thanks to Sarva Shiksha Abhiya more kids going to schools in Bihar

 

Patna, (Bihar Times): Thanks to the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan launched by the Centre four years ago the percentage of out of school children between the age group of 6 and 14 in Bihar has come down from 13.1 per cent in 2005 to 5.7 per cent in 2008. Similarly the proportion of out of school girls in the age group of 11-14 in the state has dropped from 20.1 per cent to 8.8 per cent.

According to the Annual Status of Education Report 2008 for rural India while Bihar showed sign of improvement UP witnessed slight decline.

Ararai tops the list of out of school children. The figure is 12.3 per cent to be followed by 11.7 per cent in Sitamarhi and 10 per cent in Purnea. Buxar tops the list with only 0.3 per cent children out of school to be followed by Gopalganj 1.2 per cent and Bhabua 1.8 per cent and Aurangabad 1.9 per cent.

Buxar district recorded 99.1 per cent school children in Anganwadi or pre-schools to be followed hy Nalanda 88.8 per cent. Patna’s figure is 53.95 while Katihar is at the bottom.
