Patna, (Bihar Times): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar started his Vikas Yatra with the inauguration of Rs 126 crore developmental projects in Bagaha district of West Champaran district on Monday.
However, before reaching Bagaha he laid the foundation of Rs 300 crore Jadupur-Mangalpur bridge in Gopalganj district.
The chief minister is camping at Patilar village between Bagaha and Bettiah in West Champaran district tonight. Five ministers of his cabinet and senior officials are camping at the tented camp.
Speaking on the occasion he said that his government want the development which benefits all section of the society and all regions of the state. Responding to criciticism he said that “if I am reaching the people and no chief minister has spent night in any tented camp than what is wrong if I am doing so.” He also said that his Yatra should not been anyway linked to the parliamentary election.
Before living for the Yatra the chief minister presided a cabinet meeting in Patna. He said here that the idea behind it was to inform the people about the progress of development works and address people’s problems. He said that he would go to the people directly, live with them, know their grievances and address their problems. Even the cabinet meeting would be held there in the camps.
He would review development schemes with officials. Such programmes would be held at a distance of every 20-25 km.
Reports from the camp-village said that the roads which led to Patilar has been hurriedly repaired and the whole area spruced up to welcome the chief minister. However, the striking non-gazetted employees and the opposition parties in the state are highly critical of this pre-election exercise of the chief minister.
