Complaint lodged against Nitish, newly-elected, RS member

Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief Judicial Magistrate of Patna S P Singh on Tuesday fixed August 17 as the date for recording deposition on a complaint that the newly-elected Rajya Sabha member, R C P Singh had concealed a pending proceeding against him in connivance with Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar in his affidavit while contesting the last biennial poll.

The court fixed August 17 as the date for recording the statement of the witnesses and the complainant followig the complaint filed by Nunu Singh, a social activist.

In his complaint, Nunu Singh accused R C P Singh of hiding information about a proceeding pending against him in connection with the alleged liquor scam under the state execise department. A PIL was lodged in this regard earlier. The then excise minister Jamshed Ashraf was sacked by Nitish last February for daring to highlight the scam worth Rs 500 crore. Among those who he accused included R C P Singh.

Singh was, till his election to the Rajya Sabha, was the principal secretary of Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar. Nunu charged that he had concealed the proceedings in connivance with the chief minister while filing the affidavit for contesting the biennial Rajya Sabha poll on a Janata Dal (United) ticket on June 17.
