CM inaugurates Patna Book Fair

 

Patma.(BiharTimes): Chief minister Nitish Kumar said that an international book fair is needed in Patna to cater to the demand of book lovers of the state.

Inaugurating the 18th Book Fair at Gandhi Maidan on Friday evening he said that the number of book readers have increased in Bihar, therefore, there is a huge response to the Book Fair. He assured all possible financial help to the organising committee for holding international book fair in Patna




On this occasion the Book Fair Organising Committee announced that it would give away awards for journalism, literature and theatre on December 19.

According to the announcement Surendra Pratap Patrakarita Puraskar will go to photo-journalist Amrit Jai Kishan while Vidyapati Sahitya Puraskar for literature will be given to Hare Prakash Upadhyay. Bijendra Kumar Tak will be awarded Bhikhari Thakur Rang-karma Puraskar for theatre.

The book fair has `Right to Education: Special Focus on Underprivileged Children and Girl Child' as its theme, in association with UNICEF.

The 12-day Fair is being organised by the Centre for Readership Development (CRD). It is spread over an area of two lakh square feet and the fair would have about 670 book stalls from about 250 regional, national and international publishers.

Besides NGOs, coaching institutes and corporates have their stalls erected in Book Fair.
