Body of abducted man found

Patna,(BiharTimes): Almost 13 days after his abduction police on Thursday recovered the body of Rajiv Singh, husband of Khushbu Devi of Dumra block under Sitamarhi district.
Rajiv was abducted on December 17 and two days later the kidnappers rang up his wife to inform that, unlike in the case of her son, she would not be able to see even the dead body of her husband.

Though the local media quoting family members published the news the police refused to confirm the death on the plea that the body has not been found.
However, late on Wednesday night the police recovered a body from a pond in Lalwa village under Piprahi police station of neighbouring Seohar district. The body was later identified by Rajiv’s brother Arun Kumar.
It needs to be recalled that Rajiv’s son Amandeep was kidnapped in January 2009 and later killed. In September 2010 Rajiv was attacked. An FIR was lodged in Dumra police station.
Four people, including Leeladhar Jha were arrested.
Sources said that Rajiv was reportedly under pressure after that.

"Its really pathetic to see surge of crime and abduction in Bihar. I too live in USA and am planning to return to Bihar and to start my research lab there which will help underprivileged talented students. But, these criminal acts are compelling me to think again on my thought of returning- Shall I be able to do anything there in such a pathetic conditions? Is it wise to return to place of criminals even though that is my home? Shall I not be abducted if I gain success in my life???..... Several questions"

As we prepare to welcome the new decade I wish to discuss one incident of Sitamarhi. A lady named Khushbu lost her husband as the abductors killed him. Just one year back the same group had killed her only son. This year the miscreants after kidnapping her husband openly announced to kill him and they did the same. Police response needs no mention as they took four days to decide the fate of one dead body which was later identified as Khushbu's husband Rajiv.
My point is very simple. Why such gory incident couldnot become a news worthy enough to be discussed? Could somebody stand and speak, what would have been the reaction in the media, if the same had happened during pre-nitish government? Bihar has gained many things in the last decade, media dishonesty must be on top of all. Media has gleefully accepted and acted as an ctive partner for the ruling parties during the election campaign. For money and money alone it has set new records of chamchagiri and boot licking. And nobody should try to set this incident aside terming it as one off thing. This is just one example. Read the inner pages of Hindi newspapers, and one could easily know the truth. Both about the crime rate and media's own crime.
