Main fight is with the RJD-LJP combine: Sharad Yadav

Patna,(BiharTimes): The national president of the Janata Dal (United), Sharad Yadav, made it clear that notwithstanding recent bickerings his party’s alliance with BJP would remain intact.

It is a “necessity” for the two parties to remain together, he told news agency PTI in an interview.

He said that the bygones should be forgotten and the coalition partners should look towards the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar where it is facing formidable challenge from RJD-LJP combine.

He termed the recent developments as unfortunate. However, he said, it is the desire of the people of Bihar that this alliance continues.

Sharad tried to underplay the impact of the recent bickerings on the result of the assembly election by stating that “this will not impact our votes. Whatever happened on June 12 is past now. We will fight together and win in the assembly polls this year.”

Sharad said that the party had realised that it fared badly in the by-election to the 18 assembly seats in September last because of bad selection of candidates and would ensure that the same does not happen again. He refused to give credit to the RJD-LJP combine for that victory. The two parties won nine seats while the Janata Dal United three and BJP two seats then.

However, he coceded that the main fight will be with the RJD-LJP combine as Congress is not a factor in Bihar.
