RJD-LJP combine will have no ties with Congress: Ram Vilas

Patna,(BiharTimes): In a major shift in policy Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan made it amply clear that the RJD-LJP combine will have no truck with Congress.

Talking to a section of media he said that LJP and RJD have formed teams under their state unit presidents to hold discussions for seat-sharing for election to the 243-member Assembly.

Paswan said that his party’s seat-sharing arrangement with RJD will be concretised by this month-end.

In the last Lok Sabha election the LJP was completely wiped out winning none out of 12 seats it contested in alliance with the RJD. Paswan till lately was slight soft towards the Congress and it appeared that the combine will fight together with the Congress. However, Sunday’s statement by him made it clear that this time again Congress will fight separately. Congress leaders have repeatedly been insisting that their party would contest the coming assembly election alone.

Paswan said he and RJD leader Lalu Prasad have realised the past mistakes and have been cementing alliance for the last one-and-a-half years.

Though the Congress too is not very sure of performing well, especially because of the organizational chaos and infighting, some political observers are of the view that a large section of upper caste votes may shift from Janata Dal United to the Congress. Yet that may not be enough for the party to be in race.
