I won't join UPA: Paswan

New Delhi, July 7 (IANS) Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan Wednesday dismissed reports that he will join the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and said his party will sit in the opposition.

"No way, I won't be joining the UPA," Paswan told reporters. He was asked about reports of his joining the union cabinet in the event of a reshuffle by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"We will sit in the opposition," the Bihar leader said, and added that the LJP's coalition with Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) would continue.

"We will not be having any truck with anyone else. As an MP, I will keep on raising the voice of Dalits in parliament," Paswan said.

On Monday, Congress president Sonia Gandhi wished Paswan on his 64th birthday.

Paswan was the chemicals and fertilizers minister in UPA-I. Paswan was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Bihar with the support of the RJD.
