Report Card, a bundle of lies: RJD

Patna(BiharTimes): The Rashtriya Janata Dal on Sunday held the ruling NDA government responsible for the rampant corruption and accused it of ignoring the concerns of the people. It also blamed it for the failure in tackling the Maoists’ menace and lack of industrial progress.

Releasing Janata Ka Report Card the party dubbed the Report Card of chief minister Nitish Kumar as nothing, but a bundle of lies. It said the people in general and Muslims in particular, have been cheated.

Speaking on the occasion the RJD state president Abdul Bari Siddiqui said that the only highlight of the chief minister’s Report Card was that it carried photographs of Nitish Kumar in glossy paper almost on every page.

The state president said that it seemed that Nitish presented his own farewell report. Siddiqui said that the chief minister did everything to befool people, particularly minorities. He enacted a drama over publication of his photo with Narendra Modi by cancelling the dinner for the BJP bigwigs and then subsequently returned Rs five crore given by Gujarat government for Kosi flood relief in 2008. However, in the process Nitish got exposed himself.

He asked that since the chief minister had joined hands with the Gujarat chief minister in Ludhiana last year what is wrong in its re-publication now. Ridiculing Nitish, the state RJD chief said that Muslims are well aware of all these drama being enacted by the chief minister.

He asked as to why Nitish did not visit Godhra after the burning of train nor did he uttered a single word though he was the railway minister of India. He did not open his mouth when Darul-Uloom, Deoband, and Nadwat-ul-Ulema, Lucknow, were raided during the NDA rule at the Centre.

He said Nitish is panicked and spending sleepless nights, which is evident from the fact that he prefers to stroll around Gandhi Maidan in night these days.

He said that the state government has failed to fence even 10 percent of Muslim burial grounds numbering 15,000. the RJD leader regretted that the number of Muslim candidates clearing the BPSC examination had declined to two ( out of 87 in the 47th BPSC examination) from 20-30 during the RJD-rule.

Siddiqui said that UPA-1 government at the Centre, had sanctioned Rs 525 crore for Multi-Sectoral Development Programme in Muslim-dominated districts of Katihar, Araria, Purnia, Kishanganj, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi and East Champaran. But the Nitish government spent only Rs 13.5 crore.

The RJD’s Report Card said that due to the lack of interest by the Nitish government the minority students were deprived of the benefits of Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for pre-matric and post-matric introduced by the Centre.

It also said that the National Minority Finance Commission had stopped providing fund to Bihar State Minority Finance corporation, following which Muslims were provided soft loans to earn a livelihood.

Similarly, under Mukhyamantri Shram Shakti Yojana. Rs four crore was provided in the last three years, but not a single paisa was spent. No amount was spent from the revolving fund for Waqf Property, despite provision of nearly Rs two crore in the last three years. It was the same for survey of Waqf property (Rs 55 lakh), scholarship to Muslim students (Rs 5.2 crore) and Mukhyamantri Chhatra Protsahan Yojana (Rs 18 crore).

The RJD state president said that no memorial was built for Maulana Mazharul Haq, Abdul Qayum Ansari and Ghulam Sarwar although Rs 13.2 crore was sanctioned.

Siddiqui said not a single paise has been invested in the industry though the state government had received 342 proposals worth Rs 2.5 lakh crore.

The RJD state chief said that the education system has collapsed and corruption has taken gargantuan form. Excise and transport scams are the best examples. He alleged that the law and order has deteriorated and Maoists are raising their heads.

Deputy leader of RJD legislature party in the state assembly Shakeel Ahmed Khan, general secretary Ram Bachan Rai and party national spokesperson Iliyas Hussain were also present on the occasion.

RJD would be circulating five lakh copies of its own Report Card which would highlight the state government’s misdeeds, particularly loot of public money.
