15/07/2010 Janata Dal (United) opens door for Shahabuddin?
Patna,(BiharTimes): The journey which started from the chief minister’s visit to the house of Dhummal Singh in Saran district is likely to end in Siwan with reports of offer from Janata Dal (United) to the wife of Mohammad Shahabuddin. However, Hena Shahab on Thursday denied the media reports. According to sources the initial round of talks have already taken place and the offer has reportedly come from Nitish Kumar. Hena Shahab contested the last year Lok Sabha election on RJD ticket, but lost to O P Yadav, Independent. In the recent weeks Nitish inducted Taslimuddin and then went to the house of jailed Janata Dal (United) leader Anand Mohan. Though the purpose was to bless the newly-wedded niece of Anand Mohan, the visit is being interpreted as a move to woo Rajputs. Though Nitish’s proximity to tainted and controversial leaders is not new yet after coming to power in 2005 he did try his level best to improve his image. Unlike in the past he tried to distance himself from the likes of Sunil Pandey, his own party MLA. But he appeared selective in his approach. He gave ticket to Munna Shukla in the last year parliamentary election, but his government was harsh on Anand Mohan, who was publicly humiliated and beaten up at Patna railway station. On the other hand, Nitish has no problem with Mokama MLA, Anant Singh, who is too close to him. Prabhunath Singh, former leader of the Janata Dal (United) in the Lok Sabha too had a good relationship with him till last year, when he lost his Maharajganj seat. But in public Nitish at least projected that he is maintaining a distance from them. His government did take action against some notorious dons. But he started shedding this image after excellent performance of his party and the BJP in the Lok Sabha election held last year. He paid a visit to the house of Dhummal Singh. That incident was ignored as an isolated aberration. However, in the recent months he showed extra-ordinary interest in wooing all the leaders having criminal antecedent. His offer to another jailed former MP, Mohammad Shahabuddin, is being interpreted as another move to divide Muslim-Yadav combine. Since Hena lost to O P Yadav, an Independent, a sort of rift cropped up within the M-Y. However, after the election Lalu did try to make a patch-up. If the media reports about Hena Shahab’s likely induction is true––though she denied them––then it remains a mystery as to why Nitish is roping in all the controversial characters. The only politician of clean image with whom he shared platform in the recent weeks is RJD MP from Buxar, Jagdanand Singh. The latter is a close friend of Lalu Yadav and his presence in a function with Nitish raised speculations in the political circle. Observers feel that if the chief minister is comfortable and has really taken initiative to develop the state than why is he so much panicky and inviting all the dreaded dons to his party. Something somewhere seems to be serious wrong.
It is really very sad to see these recent political development in Bihar. Nitish has greater lust for power and so he is afraid of loosing it. He was surrounded by notorious Dons all the time but he tried to maintain a distance publicly with them. This gave a hope to all bihari that Bihar will prosper under his rule and mafias will stay in Jail. If he feels to lose the election he should be ready for that and play a good opposition rule. We have only one hope that the people of bihar will teach him and others who are giving ticket to dons a lesson. Ranjeet Kumar -------------------------------------- After so many years of notoriety, Bihar had some hope in the Nitish Kumar that it can also be a law enforcing state because of Nitish's "susasan" but, recent gesture of Nitish Kumar towards anti-social elements, shows that Bihar has still to go miles before it can see better perception about it. Vivek Singh ----------------------------- Nitish dashed high hopes of the people of Bihar. We took him a different politician but when he joined the company of Taslimuddin, Anand Mohan and now Shahabuddin, we are forced to think that ------------ Janata Bechari hai . We are totally helpless whom to trust. Priya Ranjan
------------------- It is evident that Nitish Kumar is losing his popularity; eventually he started knocking the door of the anti social elements and notorious criminals. Laloo and Paswan are gone case and their return is almost not possible. Nitish is afraid of Congress and especially Rahul Gandhi. Who is going to grasp Bihar from him? And in all this hurry burry he is doing all this nuisance of returning 5 crore to Gujrat, inducting criminals and booth capturers in his party. |
