Vigilance files FIR against former PMC commissioner

 

Patna: Bihar Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday evening lodged an FIR against former commissioner of Patna Municipal Corporation K Senthil Kumar and 13 others for allegedly causing loss of Rs 8.77 crore to the PMC.


Incidentally the Vigilance move came five months after it raided the residential and business premises belonging to Senthil, a senior IAS offcer, in the last week of February. He, and other PMC officials, were also interrogated after his return from Tamil Nadu in March.


According to the FIR Senthil, now director of Census Operations, worked with the land and building mafia for personal benefit.
It alleged that sanctions of altogether 130 buildings were given during his tenure by compromising the required safety and basic amenities. Senthil and other officials have also been charged with corruption in purchase of street lights, two-way communication sets, pumps for solid waste managements, spending more on bio-metric cards and awarding work contracts to an infrastructure company in violation of norms.
