Patna,(BiharTimes): The Mauritius President Anerood Jugnauth, who along with his wife Sarojini Jugnauth, was on a day-long visit to Bihar on Thursday spent hours in Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public Library, Buddha Smriti Park and Patna Museum.

At Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public Library, rare manuscripts and paintings of Indo-Islamic heritage were displayed before him. He was all praise for Kitab al Hashaish (Book of Pharmacology), Kitab al-Tasreef (Book of Surgery), Diwan-e-Hafiz (with personal notes by Mughal emperors) and Tarikh-e-Khandan-e-Timariya, (a rare illustrated history of the Timurides) apart from a copy of Shahnamah of Firdausi which belonged to the personal library of Shah Jahan and was highly appreciated by Gandhiji.
The Mauritius President also took interest in a folio of the Holy Quran written on deer skin and a rare copy of the Badshah Namah of Qazwini containing one of the earliest paintings of Taj Mahal.
The couple than paid a visit to Buddha Smriti Park near Patna railway station and Patna Museum.
He was accorded state guest status by the state government and were accommodated at Raj Bhavan.
However, the visit by President Anerood Jugnauth caused immense hardship to the people as the police sealed Ashok Rajpath and Fraser Road where Khuda Bakhsh and Buddha Park are situated.
