Patna,(BiharTimes): The tussle over seat adjustment within the two National Democratic Alliance partners has taken a new turn with the state unit chief of the BJP, C P Thakur, publicly expressing his anger over the Janata Dal (United)’s arm-twisting tactic, which forced the party to shift its sitting MLA, Nitin Navin, to Bankipur.

He also claimed that the central leadership of the party had been apprised about his stand on the Digha seat and added that the party workers are very angry over the decision.
Before the delimitation Nitin used to represent Patna West assembly constituency. The new seat, Digha, covers most of that area so he had the genuine claim over it. However, the Janata Dal (United) exerted pressure to take the seat. The Janata Dal (United) wanted to accommodate, Poonam Devi, its sitting MLA from Masaurhi, which has now been made a reserved seat.
Like C P Thakur many other BJP leaders and
workers are sulking. This has something to do
with the caste equation too. Thakur was interested
in getting Bankipur seat for his son, Vivek Thakur. Now he has been forced out of election as Nitin Navin is contesting. Bankipur has a sizeable Bhumihar population so Thakur and many other of his caste within the party wanted the seat for Vivek. Nitin, on the other hand, is a Kayastha. The latter too would not be too comfortable to be in a new turf. After his father’s death in 2006 Nitin Navin won from the Patna West by over 68,000 votes.
Incidentally the news of the change of candidate was disclosed to the media on Thursday evening by the BJP state unit vice-president Sanjay Mayukh.
With the announcement of five more names on Thursday the BJP has so far declared the name of 100 out of the total 102 candidates, who will be contesting the election.
Besides, this change the BJP dropped sitting MLA from Bikram, Anil Kumar. It announced the names of its candidates for Patepur, Wazirganj and Bhabhua too.
In place of Anil Kumar the party has put up Ramjanam Sharma from Bikram.
Mahendra Baitha would be the BJP candidate from Patepur, Anand Bhushan from Bhabhua and Virendra Singh from Wazirganj.
The party is yet to announce the name of its candidates for Brahmpur and Dehri seats. Last time C P Thakur’s son, Vivek, contested on the BJP ticket but lost. His father is not interested in fielding him from here because, according to him, he was betrayed by some senior BJP leaders. He refused to name them in the media.
