Advani not to campaign in first phase

Patna,(BiharTimes): Now it is final. The former deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, the hero of Ram Temple movement, is not going to campaign for the first phase of election for the 47 seats to be held on October 21. A sizeable number of these assembly constituencies are situated in the Muslim dominated districts of Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar and Purnea.

While the National Democratic Party has given ticket to five Muslims, the Rashtriya Janata Dal and Congress have put up 15 and 18 Muslim candidates respectively.

As reporter earlier in BiharTimes after the Ayodhya verdict of September 30 last the Janata Dal (United), especially its top leader, chief minister Nitish Kumar, has been feeling wary of sharing dias with Lal Krishna Advani and Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Earlier, Advani was to begin his five-day campaign on Friday in the Kosi belt. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has been campaigning in flood-ravaged Kosi region, where Muslims and Yadavs form a strong force.
