Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley on Sunday slammed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his remark that central funds had not been properly utilised by the Bihar government, saying 'central funds are not Congress property'.
|
Jaitley, who is Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, also said 'the prime minister should not have made that remark on Bihar as a Congressman but as an economist'.
'The remark that was made on Saturday - the money that the central government collects is the tax-payer's money. People from Bihar also pay tax. Central funds are not the property of the Congress party,' Jaitley said.
On Saturday, the prime minister had told an election rally in Narpatganj assembly constituency in Bihar's Araria district that funds provided by the central government were not utilised properly.
'The Bihar government has failed to spend funds properly which resulted in lack of progress and development,' he said.
The prime minister also said that Bihar's Janata Dal-United-Bharatiya Janata Party government was 'misguiding' people by naming centrally-funded schemes as its own.

Last week in course of usual phone conversation with my father I fleetingly asked so Babuji who got ticket from our constituency and do u think people are going to vote for Rahul Gandhi’s Congress. Babujee’s terse reply was : Inka koi apna astitva nahin hai baap daade ke naam pe chal rahe hain. Incidentally on congress ticket some respected personality of my own caste is fighting, yet Babujee adds “Jamanat zabt ho jayega.”
Election results will tell the final story but it makes me wonder how media positioning and big name can give one an aura of political messiah. Despite the fact that Rahul Gandhi’s pet project NSUI lost miserably for the first time in history in Delhi University student body elections. Despite all the efforts of Rahul Gandhi Congress got wiped out of municipal election in Gujarat. Predictably media ignores the news.
Manmohans Singh Jee goes around doing the same routine which he does at eve of every election in Bihar: “Paisa kendra se aata hai”. As if Bihar doesn’t have right to the central fund and Manmohan Singh is doing some kind of favor. If one looks closely one finds that Bihar is actually being shortchanged . There is no other way to explain the allocation of 1/10th of federal fund in comparison to J/K for a state with ten times population of J/K.
Laloojee says congress also responsible for Bihar’s plight along with Nitish. Yes politicians can deliver words like these without flinching.
