Janata Dal (United) expels 16 for contesting as rebel candidates

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Janata Dal (United) on Tuesday expelled 16 of its leaders for contesting poll as rebel candidates from different assembly constituencies of Bihar.

They all are contesting as Independent candidates. Two of those expelled are sitting MLAs Bilat Paswan and Murli Dhar Mandal. They too were denied the party ticket this time. In fact they became victim of delimitation, party insiders say.

The party said that the action has been taken after they were repeatedly persuaded to withdraw from the fray.

Like Janata Dal (United) its partner the BJP has also expelled many party leaders for fighting as Independent.

The presence of rebel candidates, especially in the 47 north-east constituencies of Bihar, where polling is schedule to take place on October 21, may queer the pitch for the official candidates of the National Democratic Alliance.
