Status quo in Ayodhya till Supreme Court takes up case: PM

New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday said the Ayodhya verdict by the Allahabad High Court needed to be examined "carefully" and as such "the status quo" at the disputed site will be maintained until the cases are taken up by the Supreme Court.

"The orders delivered by the three judges need to be examined carefully. The high court itself has directed that the status quo as prevailing till date shall be maintained for a period of three months," the prime minister said in an appeal following the judgment.

He said the "correct conclusion, at this stage, is that the status quo will be maintained until the cases are taken up by the Supreme Court".

He appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony in the wake of the judgment of the Allahabad High Court.

India is going toward literacy. It is a good sign of India’s integrity and development. When people are literate none can fool them in the name of religion and others. Education opens the heart, mind and eyes of people where right thinking gets birth. Literate man cannot lead their lives in darkness unless they close their eyes intentionally and narrow their thinking deliberately. Literate people work on evidence, fact and truth and not on assumption and fiction. Religion is more sensitive issue. How it can be worked on hypothesis and falsehood. If done, false faith will be developed. Hence, false and imaginary God will be prayed. The present demonstration of peace and calm by the Indian community is the manifestation of our literate people for which we are proud of. Let us extend our hand of support to make India a hub of literate people with right thinking in right directions.
