Patna,(BiharTimes): Raj Bhawan has appointed the outgoing human resource development (HRD) department director (higher education),
Janardan Prasad Singh, as the pro-vice-chancellor of Patna University (PU).His appointment came after the Principal of the Patna College, Lal Keshwar Prasad Singh, refused to accept the post.

Incidentally, the appointment of Janardan assumed significance since at one point of time he was considered too close to chief minister Nitish Kumar and was picked by him from Patna University for the post of HRD department director.
However, one-and-half months ago he quit following reported differences with the chief minister. He was also considered one of the top contenders for the post of VC.
