He surrendered on the directive of the Patna high court sometimes ago. The High Court allowed a conditional anticipatory bail to five members of his family, who too were named as accused in the disproportionate assets case in which the former was required to surrender before the Vigilance Court within six weeks if the anticipatory bails of other accused persons were to be allowed.
It needs to be recalled that the Vigilance Bureau had registered a disproportionate assets case against Chaudhary, his wife, two sons and their wives in 2008 charging them with amassing wealth to the tune of Rs 4.21 crore beyond the known source of income of Chaudhary between January 1, 1982 and April 26, 2008.
The Vigilance had later submitted a chargesheet against the accused persons in the Vigilance Court on September 15, 2010.
