Patna,(BiharTimes): Widespread resentment prevails among upper echelon of the Indian Railways following the suspension of Adhar Raj, Senior Divisional Operating Manager (SDOM) of Danapur after protest by the MPs from Bihar over non-allotment of berths to them in AC-I in Rajdhani Express on Tuesday. The suspension order has been issued by General Manager, East Central Railway, Varun Bharthuar. |
In all 27 MPs, most of them of NDA, with their spouses, were on way to Delhi to attend the Winter Session of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. However, only a dozen of them could get the berth as the Danapur division could not attach an extra AC-I coach on Tuesday.
Railway sources said that an extra coach could not be attached as they were informed about their travel only on Monday.
Under the recent issued by the ECR’s commercial department, any division could give requisition to the headquarters for attaching extra coach to any mail and express train four days in advance. In this case the Railways could not attach extra coach in the Rajdhani Express as the requisition was made just a day before departure of the train.
Railway Officers Association of North Central Railway, Allahabad, and Danapur Railway Division have resented this action of the Railway Minister, Dinesh Trivedi. Officers of East Central Railway, Hajipur, are also likely to express their displeasure over the suspension.
One of them told BiharTimes as to what is wrong if the MPs and their spouses or attendants had to travel in AC-II instead of AC-I. They must understand that due to inclement weather and foggy condition the Railways is already under pressure in running the trains.
Sources within the Railways expressed surprise as to why Adhar Raj was suspended when attaching extra coach is the responsibility of commercial department and not traffic department to which he belonged.
Apart from Railway officials, common citizens too are questioning the Railways Minister’s wisdom. “Why is it that no official is suspended when common passengers had to suffer. Why after all these MPs return to Patna on every weekend and go back to Delhi after two or three days stay in the state capital. They should remain there for the whole session as was the practice in the past,” one of them who wished not to be quoted told BiharTimes.
It needs to be recalled that before raising the issue in New Delhi these MPs from Bihar created scene at Patna Junction and Mughalsarai station under the East Central Railway (ECR) over denial of berths in AC-1 coach of the Patna-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12309) on Tuesday evening.
Patna-Rajdhani has only one AC-1 coach. In such a situation how can the Railways allot berths booked for other passengers to MPs? In such a short notice, the Railways could manage only 12 berths for them and adjusted other MPs and their companions in AC-II and AC-III coaches, an ECR official tried to explain.

Shameful Act ! It speaks about that how our rulers ,more so from current ruling parties in Bihar are displaying archaic British rulers' slave mentality .
Bihar will progress only if our politicians and Babus really start feeling that they are "public
Servant " .
We demand restoration of the Official immediately .

Dear Mr. Trivedi and other parliamentarians,
My simple question is “Are you all a public servant or ruler of this country?”

This is shameful mark on our democratic system where democratic leader feels shame to travel in AC-II class, forget about common class where passenger travels in sleeper and general category. I believe they have never bothered to see the situation of passenger in general category in Indian Railways. There is nothhing wrong if East Central Railways goes for any agitation on this issue. This is enough to mark that our MPs are far from wisdom. All MPs should remember that they are not paying any amount for these luxary, these comes from the pocket of aam admi in the form of custom and taxes. I hope these words will reach to Mr. Trivedi, the Railways Minister.
Hope .. after second class Ac luxary suffering they will put their attention to see the condition of passenger in general category of Indian Railways.
There should be some restriction on the no of trips for MPs and their family as they are not travelling on their own money it is the public wealth.
All of my dear MPs request you to ask your SOUL how far it is justifiable ???
