Patna,(BiharTimes): A former Block Development Officer (BDO), Firoz Alam, posted in Jokihat block of Araria district and former Mukhiya, Imran Sabir, were arrested from their respective houses in Phulwarisharif and Kankarbagh localities of Patna on Friday on charge of embezzlement of Rs 40 lakh under the Indira Awas Yojana in the district. |
According to Superintendent of Police (SP), Araria, Shivdeep Lande, the former BDO had fraudulently withdrawn Rs 40 lakh from various banks in the name of 400 flood-hit people to provide them houses under the IAY in 2004 and the then Mukhiya of Gairki panchayat in Jokihat block had actively colluded with the official.
The embezzlement of IAY funds came to light sometimes back. The accused duo were absconding till their arrest two days ago.
