Patna,(BiharTimes): Though elected representatives like Raj Kishore Kesri, Sunil Pandey, Surendra Yadav etc were in the news for all the wrong reasons in the recent past the state government gave a green signal to the proposal to beef up their security.

According to ADG headquarters, P K Thakur each ministers will now have 18 policemen for their security, while MPs and legislators would now have three bodyguards each. Earlier they were entitled to get two guards. The bodyguards would be on the duty in three shifts to provide them security round the clock. Besides, all the visitors would be frisked before meeting them.
He said that the proposal seeking to enhance the security for ministers, MPs and legislators got the government approval on Monday.
What is ironical is that the state government order to increase security came a day after the Belaganj MLA, Surender Yadav’s guard opened fire on doctors at Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College and Hospital in Gaya. The MLA has not yet been arrested though the junior doctors have gone on strike all over the state. Incidentally, the police have failed to arrest the MLA even two days later though he belongs to the opposition, RJD.
It needs to be recalled that immediately after the murder of the BJP MLA, Raj Kishore Kesri, on January 4 the chief minister announced that the security of the elected representatives would be increased.
An officer and three constables from the Special Branch would provide extra cover to Bihar ministers. They will also be entitled to get the three guards, the MLAs or MLCs get. Apart from these, there will be a total of 11 escort-cum-house guards for the ministers. Of them, one will be an officer, two will be havildar and eight constables. All of them will be armed and allowed to frisk people thoroughtly.
When the minister is on the move an officer, a havildar and four constables will be escorting the minister. The rest will take care of the minister’s residence, Thakur said.
