Patna, Feb 14 (IANS) A three-day Bhojpuri film and cultural festival began here Monday to mark 50 years of the industry that has a large audience in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. |
Several well-known faces associated with Bhojpuri culture are attending the festival, where they will discuss the past, present and future of Bhojpuri cinema and its impact on society.
The big attraction of the event will be Bhojpuri stars like Kunal Singh, Manoj Tiwari and Ravi Kishan. Over 10 artistes, including Pundit Chunnulal Mishra, Sharda Sinha, Vijaya Bharti and Bholanath Mishra, will perform at the festival.
Avinash, the brain behind the festival, told IANS that six Bhojpuri films, including "Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo", the first Bhojpuri film, would be screened at the festival.
The festival has been organised by the Delhi-based Foundation for Media Culture and Cinema Awareness.
Bhojpuri is a dialect spoken mainly in north Bihar and the Bhojpur district. It is also spoken in parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Who is bihari …are bhojpuriyas are only biharis ?
Looking at the population composition of Bihar ,6.7 crores are from mithila(including angika and vajika),1.4 crores from magadh,1.9 crores are from bhojpur…then why always bihar is attached with bhojpuriyas.Bihar should be attached with Maithils who are in majority or Magahis who are the real base of bihar.Plz refrain from dominating bihar with Bhojpuri identity.Even laloo Prasad yadav is Bhojpuri icon but not a bihari icon though he is representative of 8 crores maithils and magahi combine……why he communicates in parliament only in hindi and Bhojpuri……..
If bihar only means for bhojpuriya……then I am sorry to say…..I am not a bihari……plz refrain from dominationg bihar on bhojpuriya tag.

The same question has been raised on Orkut 'The Bihari Community' but there was no concreate reply and justification given by Bihari Bhojpuris (mind you bhojpuris are minority in Bihar and there more number of Bhojpuri speaking people in UP rather in Bihar).The owner of the community is himself biased because he is a Bhojpuri.
Bihar's biased projection i.e. Bihar means bhojpuri has caused serious repurcussion in other communities of Bihar...please visit Maithili realted communities especially seperate mithila state thread..you will automatically come to know the gravity of problem.i.e. Bihar means Bhojpuri to other states of India.The problem which maithil folks are sharing even I have witnessed the same being a Magahi.
Finally Bhojpuris have no ligitimate claim to give Bihar a Bhojpuri tag...and stop Bihars biased projection.
