Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar government will relax the rules for doctors who have passed their MBBS course from outside the state for appearing in the Post-Graduate Medical Admission Test (PGMAT), 2011, which is now scheduled to start from March 6. |
According to reports the state health department had earlier taken the opinion of the advocate general (AG) on whether the doctors who had completed their MBBS course from outside the state, under the 15 per cent all India quota, can be allowed to appear for the PGMAT entrance examination or not. The AG had given consent to the move.
Health minister Ashwini Choubey said that the government would issue notification in this regard and if required examination date would be deferred to make this proposal effective. He, however, hoped that all necessary steps in this regard would be completed by March 6.
The minister said that all Bihari origin MBBS holders whether from government or any other private institutes, residing in any part of the country, would be eligible to appear for the examination.
The move would give a chance to such doctors to serve in their home state as well as help end shortage of doctors in the state.
