Patna,(BiharTimes): A few days before the presentation of the Railway Budget Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar urged the railway minister, Mamata Banerjee, to get all the pending railway projects completed at the earliest.

Requesting her to introduce new trains for the state to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Bihar Nitish, who also served as the railway minister in the Vajpayee cabinet, sought conversion of the Gaya and Hajipur railway stations into world-class stations. The then railway minister Lalu Yadav had already announced that Gaya would be made a world-class station but before this could be done he had to leave the railway ministry.
He also demanded the expedition of the operationalization of the two locomotive factories at Marhaura and Madhepura and sought review of the ongoing work with regard to the rail-road bridge over Ganga between Patna (Digha) and Sonepur.
Nitish’s letter demanded introduction of Patna-New Delhi Duronto Express, Bhagalpur-Bikaner Express, Patna-Dehradun Express, Muzaffarpur-Pune Express, Rajgir-Howrah Express and extension of Gaya-Chennai Express to Bangalore and increase in the frequency of Patna-Rajgir Intercity etc.
