JD(U) opposes Akali Dal’s stand on sharing central taxes

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Janata Dal (United) national president Sharad Yadav strongly disagrees with his party’s alliance partner, Shiromani Akali Dal, over sharing of central taxes among states.

Sharad, who is also the convenor of the National Democratic Alliance, disagreed with the deputy chief minister of Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal, who had the other day said that the taxes should be distributed equally among all the states.
Sharad on the other hand said that their distribution should continue on the basis of population.
“Distribution of taxes from the Central government on the basis of population is just. How can anyone demand a change in this law saying that Bihar gets more share?” Sharad was quoted by news agency PTI.
Sharad said that most of the products consumed in Bihar are manufactured outside the state. Hence, it is obvious that Bihar pays a huge amount in taxes.
“Bihar has been badly hit after the state was divided. The Centre is biased against us and thus, we have been demanding a special status for Bihar. Had the Centre given us a package we would have developed Bihar,” he added.
Sharad said that a lesser number of workers are now migrating to Punjab because the Bihar government has been trying to create jobs in the state itself.
