Patna,
Jan 15 (IANS) After over a decade, the Patna High Court has
once again used the word 'jungle' while referring to the state
of rule of law in this capital city.
"Patna is jungle, there is no
rule of law here," the Patna High Court commented in reference
to the government departments' style of functioning and
mushrooming of apartment blocks in the city in violation of
the rule of law. |
The high court
stricture gave the opposition leaders in Bihar an opportunity to
question Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's claim of good-governance and
rule of law.
"We demand the state government to reply to the
court's remark," Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Ram Kirpal Yadav told IANS.
A high court bench headed by Justice Navin Sinha made the
remark Thursday while hearing a petition filed by a Danapur
resident, Madhav Rai, who sought stop to illegal construction of an
apartment block in his locality.
Several years ago during
the chief ministership of Rabri Devi of the RJD, the Patna High
Court had described the law and order situation in Bihar as a
"jungle raj". The high court comment was used as a major issue by
the then opposition and now ruling NDA in the state for its
political purposes.
comments...
High court is very much right by comparing Patna with Jungle. It is not less than that. The jungle is so much penetrated that it is very hard to clean it. The scandals which are going on in Patna University for admissions to BED course 2010 is one of the latest live example. I want to put light on this. A lot of permutation and combinations is going on. Meritorious students are the biggest losers. Just 3 days ago Gopal Kumar was the rank 1 in PH quota. Now somebody else who had not appeared for examination, is enjoying the position. On asking the clerical babus (they are not less than that) their comment is “ unka nam (who has given 1st position) gupt rup se tha, ab gopal kumar rank 2 ho gaye hai”. Nitish kumar should give a watch over such irregularities in Bihar higher education system. It is my request to you, please give some more light over this issue. i only believe in media which have the capability to educate the public to fight corruption. If our education institutions are so deeply corrupted what we can think about other departments. I just wish when our Bihar will become least corrupted state!!!!.

Completely agree with Mr. Raj.
Good initiatives as well as shortcomings of the Government should
come out to the Fore. Bihartimes has done great job. I was following
Bihartimes on 24th November during the Vote Counting day. And
Bihartimes was the first to give the clear picture at around 11:30
AM ahead of any other news channel or web site.
There are lot
of good things going on in Bihar as well as bad things. There is a
need to publish both kind of reports
honestly.

In recent days I have seen reports about
discrimination by media regarding publishing news in Bihar, on
this site. This will not take Bihar anywhere, one day the bubble
will burst and media men will be losers. They would still have
some power but no credibility at all. Nobody will believe
them. Truth can not be and should not be concealed. This
portal is commendable job. I have been following this for last 3-4
years and am pleased with their reporting. No website of any
leading newspaper from Bihar has published this news regarding
Patna HCs outbursts and no one has commented and complained on
this site I am afraid everything is going so well in Bihar.
Publish honest reports and save democracy
and Bihar.
