Delay from Bihar deprives police officials of Presidential honour

Patna,(BiharTimes): Once again this year the brave and meritorious policemen of Bihar are likely to miss the Republic Day decoration for their distinguished service as their names reached the Union Home Ministry much later.

Though Assembly election is being attributed for this delay in sending names three years back similar delay deprived the police officials of Bihar of their medals. This notwithstanding the fact that there was no Assembly election then.

The Union Home Ministry has reportedly refused to entertain the recommendation of Bihar government to honour them with President’s Medal because of inordinate delay in sending it.

The deadline for sending the recommendation was November 30 but the list of the state reached the Centre much later. It is being argued that the police top brass and state administration were so much busy in the election duty that they could not send the list of the police officials to be honoured for their distinguished service on time.

The recommendation for decorating the state personnel with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, Police Medal for Meritorious Service, President’s Police Medal for Gallantry and Police Medal for Gallantry was send to the state home department which forwarded it to the Union Home ministry.

The name of the Police personnel recommended for awards are scrutinized by the Union ministry official before sending it to the President for final approval.
