Patna,(BiharTimes): Dissident Jamata Dal (United) Rajya Sabha member Upendra Kushwaha on Monday sat on a 24-hour fast demanding Chief Minister Nitish Kumar order a thorough investigation into assets earned by him.

He sat on the fast near the statue of Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Narayan on the birth anniversary of veteran Socialist leader Karpoori Thakur.
Reacting to the statement given by some Janata Dal (United) leaders on his wealth Kushwaha said the chief minister was free to order an investigation either by a state agency or by any other independent agency into the property the he possessed.
As reported the state Vice President of Janata Dal (United), C P Sinha, had earlier this month criticized Upendra Kushwaha for allegedly amassing huge property between 2005 and 2010.
The Janata Dal (United) leaders alleged that the property of Upendra reached over Rs two crore between 2005 and 2010 and demanded action against him under relevant sections of Income Tax Act.
He said his dharna is not against the party or anybody but his move would only help the chief minister in his fight against corruption.
Upendra is among 750 party leaders, who have been served show-cause notices by the state disciplinary committee of the party on charges of anti-party activities during the Bihar Assembly elections. They have been asked to appear before the committee on January 27 to explain his position.
Upendra declined to appear before this committee nor would he reply to the notice. He once again said that state committee can not seek explanation from an MP.
