Patna,(BiharTimes): It was perhaps never so dark and dry for this part of Kankarbagh colony, once considered as Asia’s largest one.
As Patna is gearing up to become Paris for the past 10 days, the residents of Mahatma Gandhi Nagar in Kankerbagh are going without power and water as the transformer in their area got burnt. With most of the residents relying on private pump sets the people are facing acute water shortage too.

Housewives, school children, students, businessmen, employees etc are facing acute hardship yet there is nobody to listen to their grievances. In the absence of power and water in such humid temperature many children are unable to go to school. They all are spending sleepless nights while the days are spend in carrying water.
What is more tragic is that the electricity board officials are not sure under whose jurisdiction the colony falls. Therefore, there is no scope of early replacement of the transformer too.
The officials at Bahadurpur Housing Colony electricity office and Kendriya Vidyalaya office are both passing the buck on each other while the local residents do not know where to go. They have knocked at all the doors but to no avail.
Nobody is there to listen to the chief minister Nitish Kumar’s directive to replace transformer within 24 hours in urban area and 72 hours in the rural areas. Local residents said that now they would be thankful if new transformer is installed in 24 days.
