Patna, July 22 (IANS) A councillor in a civic body here has lost her post for having more than two children - the maximum limit set under a new law, officials Friday said.
Rehana Khatoon, in her mid-30s, a ward councillor in the Phulwarisharief municipal body, was disqualified by the state election commission for violating the provisions of the amended Bihar Municipal Act, 2007.

According to the act, any elected representative of any civic body may face disqualification if he or she has more than two children. Rehana has six children.
Officials said she was disqualified after a complaint was filed against her by a resident.
Early this year, a ward councillor from Bodh Gaya, Arun Ravidas, was disqualified by the commission after his wife gave birth to a third child.
