M N Prasad will succeed Pullok Chatterjee as ED, World Bank, Washington. He will join the prestigious assignment in September for a period of three years. Prasad had held various important posts in Bihar during the then RJD government such as development commissioner and commercial taxes secretary. He had also served as secretary in the ministry of minority affairs, Government of India. He was a student of PM Manmohan Singh at the prestigious Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University.
Reports from New Delhi said that Doordarshan will finally have a new full-fledged DG after a gap of several months. Tripurari Sharan will take over from acting DG, L D Mandloi. He is likely to be relieved soon from his current assignment as Principal Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies. He has also been holding the additional charge of Bihar State Film Development Corporation.
Sharan is a graduate from St Stephen's College, New Delhi and did MA (Sociology) from JNU in 1984. It is said that during his five-year tenure as the director of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, he virtually revived the dying institute.
He took over charge of FTII in 2003 and restarted the acting course, reopened the acting studio that was closed for over three decades, and introduced new courses. During his tenure, he made two feature films.
