Patna,(BiharTimes): Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Yadav has emerged as the first non-Congress leader to openly applaud the government action in Ramlila ground last midnight. |
Hitting out at Baba Ramdev for politicizing the whole issue and backing out from the deal signed in a hotel room Lalu said that “we always supported Ramdev in his fight against the big corporate houses. But now he is playing into their hands and has joined forces with the Hindtva Brigade. Why is it that Sadhvi Rithambara of Babri Masjid demolition fame was the first to reach the dais?” he asked.
Lalu questioned Baba Ramdev’s locus standi to suggest that the Prime Minister should be directly elected. “These are the issues for Parliament and Constitution to decide and not people on the streets,” Lalu thundered at a Press Conference in New Delhi on Sunday.
Lalu ridiculed the change of dress of Baba, who was wearing white and not bhagwa at the time of his escape from the fasting venue. “Does a Baba jump from 12-feet high dais to escape police. Anything could have happened,” Lalu said.
The RJD chief, who once in the past had said that Baba Ramdev baura gayen hain (has gone crazy) blasted him for attacking those wearing khadi clothes. He said the RSS is using Ramdev for its own objective. “Why are Yagya taking place in all these place,” he asked.
Appreciating the greatness of Congress party whose four ministers went to the airport to accord him Obama-like welcome Lalu asked the government to probe the funding of the whole exercise.
He reminded that it was none else but Lal Krishna Advani who first alleged that black money of family members of Sonia Gandhi is deposited in the foreign banks, but later in writing apologized to her for saying so.
He also took a dig at Anna Hazare for first appreciating Gujarat and Bihar governments and than sometimes later contradicting his own words after the visit to Gujarat.
Lalu said that Narendra Modi, Lal Krishna Advani and Nitin Gadkari are lending full support to Ramdev’s stir. Gadkari had said that he would stage a Gandhian style dharna outside Rajghat. “But the government should stop the killer of Gandhiji to assemble outside Rajghat,” he said.
Lalu said a majority of people came here to learn Yoga and not to indulge in this politicking.
