Patna,(BiharTimes): The Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, on Monday said that Bihar was not the first state to distribute bicycles and uniforms to the school-children. In fact Tamil Nadu, under the chief ministership of Jayalalithaa, was the first to introduce these schemes as far back as 2001.
Participating in the debate over Bihar Budget in the state Assembly he countered the state chief minister’s claim that measures taken by Bihar today are followed by others later.
After Tamil Nadu many other states distributed bicycles to the school-children.
He also took the Nitish government to task for giving nod to asbestos plants in the state when the fact is that it is banned in 55 countries of the world.
