Patna,(BiharTimes): The state government has planned to open middle schools in large numbers so that each middle school caters to children within the radius of three kilometres.
Replying to the debate on his department’s over Rs 190-crore Budget for the 2011-12 financial year Human Resources Development minister Prashant Kumar Shahi said on Friday in the state Assembly, that expansion of primary education system has put a huge pressure on the existing middle schools. It has necessitated increase in the number of middle schools. |
Shahi said that the Centre had a plan to have one middle school within the radius of five kilometres. However, given the increase in the number of school going children in the state, the department has proposed to the Centre that the number of such schools be so much that each of them catered to the need of children within the radius of three km.
Shahi said infrastructure development would be given utmost attention in the 253 constituent colleges of the state during the 2011-12. Besides, the plan was also to make and transform a select group of the 253 constituent colleges into centres of excellence.
