.Patna,(BiharTimes): Industry Minister Renu Kumari on Thursday claimed that the Bihar State Industrial Promotion Board (SIPB) had approved proposals worth over Rs 1.99 lakh crore in various sectors, including energy and ethanol. However, members of opposition parties led by the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, strongly protested her statement and staged a walk out.

Speaking after a debate on the Budgetary Grants of her department in the House, the minister said that the SIPB had sanctioned 446 projects with investment proposals worth Rs 1.99 lakh crore since 2006. Out of these projects, 146 had already been implemented. Fifty-two projects in the food processing sector are being executed with the state government giving subsidy while 83 are in the pipeline.

She alleged that faulty policies of the Congress government and subsequent Lalu-Rabri regime had brought to closure 15 sugar mills, Rohtas Industry Limited, Ashok Paper Mill (Darbhanga), Dumraon Textile and Jute Mills in Katihar.

Later, the House passed the Budgetary Grants by voice vote with opposition parties staging a walk-out.
