.Patna,(BiharTimes): With the passage of the Bihar Profession, Trade, Livelihood and Employment Tax Bill, 2011 on Tuesday way has been paved for the imposition of the Professional Tax.
Now Professional Tax would be imposed on central and state governments officers and employees, Railways, Boards and Corporation on the pattern of Maharashtra and West Bengal.

The Bill would come into effect from the date of its notification in the state Gazette.
Salaried professionals earning more than Rs three lakh per annum would come under the ambit of the new legislation.
According to sources those earning between Rs three and five lakh would pay an annual Professional Tax of Rs 1,000 while those earning between Rs five and Rs 10 lakh would have to pay Rs 2,000.
Employees getting above Rs 10 lakh per annum will have to pay Rs 2,500.
