Patna,(BiharTimes): The state cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval for setting up two coal-based thermal power plants with a capacity of 1320MW each.
The power plants will come up at Chausa in Buxar district and Kajra in Lakhisarai district and will have two units of 660MW each. The Chausa plant will be set up at cost of Rs 6,795 crore. The cabinet also gave sanction for investment by private parties at both the places.

Chausa is the place where Sher Shah Suri defeated the second Mughal Emperor Humayun. According to cabinet secretary Ravikant the cabinet also gave its nod for constructing an international-level museum on Bailey Road, for which some official bungalows would be demolished.

The government would seek $153.9 million (Rs 708 crore) loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for execution of Bihar Power Sector Development programmes. The money would be spent for strengthening of power transmission and distribution network in the state.
