Patna,(BiharTimes): Notwithstanding strong opposition the Bihar State Electricity Board is about to increase the power tariff by another 10 to 15 per cent. The Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission (BERC), which is working out a new tariff for all the categories, is likely to give its green signal in this regard. The new rate would be implemented from next month bill. |
The full bench of the Commission, headed by U N Panjiar, held a three-day (May 16-18) public hearing of objections and suggestions related to the proposal of BSEB to increase the tariff. Among other things it took note of the views of public, consumer organisationsand members of trade and commerce associations. Almost all the participants objected to a rise in the existing power tariff. The Board is suffering huge losses and the hike would help minimize it.
