Patna,(BiharTimes): None of the 17 traffic signals of Patna installed at a cost of Rs 1.17 crore more than five years back have been functioning for the last two years. What is more these signals will not blink to regulate traffic on citry's premier roads
any more as Webel Mediatronics Limited, the firm that was given the annual maintenance contract, has said that spare parts are no more available in the market. The firm was to maintain the signals till June this year.

According to the City SP Shivdeep Lande, who is doubling as SP (Traffic) Webel was given the annual maintenance contract for Rs 1.5 lakh in July last year. However it wrote to the Traffic Police in April this year, stating that it cannot provide the spare parts for the defunct signals.
Reports say that Traffic Police department is now in the process of submitting a proposal to the state police headquarters, requesting it to put afresh the maintenance services out to tender.
However, the SP said that Webel would not be allowed to get away with the violation of the contract and added this is a criminal act against which legal action would be initiated.
