Girl, boy share top position in Bihar Board Class-X exam

Patna,(BiharTimes): Kundan Kumar of Janata High School, Sitamarhi and Shalini Yadav of Ghanshyam Balika High School, Khagaul in Patna jointly topped in the Class-X BSEB exam.
The results were announced on Wedneday evening.


They both scored 460 out of 500. Unlike in CBSE and ICSE exams usually the performance of boys was better than girls in Bihar School Examination Board this year.

Twenty-nine boys and 12 girls made it to the merit list of 15 top scorers. In many cases more than one students secured the same marks.

More than 1.56 lakh girls as well as 1.43 lakh boys failed. But then 5.32 lakh boys as against 3.99 lakh girls took the exam. Thus, the pass percentage of girls is less than that of the boys.

Of the 9.31 lakh students, 6.21 lakh passed. The overall pass percentage is thus a little over 67, which is three per cent less than last year.

Shekhar Suman of Adsar in Jamui secured second position with 455 marks while Sanjeet Kumar, Mohammad Ghufran Alam and Himanshu Kumar of Hajipur, Rosera and Samastipur respectively got 454 marks each and were third.

There are 1,43,864 first divisioners 3,04,385 second divisioners while 1,72,971 secured third division.

Magadh division had the highest pass percentage of 74.11% to be followed by Munger division (73.03%). The pass percentage of Saran division is 70.54%, Patna division 66.86%, Darbhanga 65.9%
Tirhut 64.17%, Kosi 61.35%, Purnia 56.26% and Bhagalpur 55.16%.
