More milk to flow out from Sudha Dairy

Patna,(BiharTimes): Sudha Dairy is planning to commission three new dairies by the end of the current financial year. Thus the number of dairies will increase to 17. This is a part of an effort to boost the milk production by 50 per cent––from 14 lakh litres daily to 22 lakh litres––by the end of 2011-12.


Biharsharif, the district headquarters of Nalanda district, Dehri-on-Sone, an industrial town in Rohtas district and Jamui will have new dairies.


The dairy in Biharsharif will have a capacity of four lakh litres per day. The one in Dehri-on-Sone and Jamui will produce one lakh litres and 10,000 litres of milk respectively.


Apart from that, steps are being taken to double the capacity of Samastipur Dairy from 2.5 lakh litres to five lakh litres daily as it is undergoing expansion.


Muzaffarpur Dairy, which at present produces 1.5 lakh litres daily will soon be producing 2.5 lakh
litres daily.

The capacity of Bihar State Milk Co-operative Producers Federation Limited’s (Comfed) dairies at Ara, Gaya, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Darbhanga, Kaimur and Bokaro are also being expanded.

At present Sudha Dairy supplies milk and milk products to Delhi, UP, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam and Orissa. There is demand from Andhra Pradesh and other states too, according to sources.
