Patna,(BiharTimes): The finance ministry and Planning Commission have cleared the project
for a Marine Drive type road or Thames Path along river Ganga in Patna. It would be a 40 km long drive way along the banks of the river.
The Thames Path in London is 64 km long, while Marine Drive is just a three kilometre long stretches along the shore of the Arabian Sea.

The project is to cost Rs 2,400 crore. The land for the project will cost less now as the Ganga has altered its course leaving enough land on the southern bank.
The project has been conceived well and can change the transport situation there. About seven km of this road will run on an elevated platform.
Along its length, it will have boulevards and jetties for boats to berth. This will improve not just physical infrastructure, but also the aesthetics of Bihar’s capital, notorious for traffic congestion.
In the first phase, the Ganga driveway will connect Digha to Didarganj, a stretch of 21 km, and the second phase will go all the way to Fatuha, a distance of 18 km.
Old timers recall that it was the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who while laying down the foundation stone of the Mahatma Gandhi Setu more than four decades back, first made the announcement of a Marine Drive type road along the coast of Ganga in Patna. Then Ganga was too close to Patna and it was difficult to reclaim land for the project.

Ganga driveway project is of immense importance to Patna,as not only it is going to easy traffic woes in the city but also act landmark for the resurgent patna.it will increase the aesthetic look of Patna.I think it should have a provision for metro rail route also so that it will act as multimodal transport system. It should also have BRTS nd cycle lanes along with expressway lane's.

I will request to government , Local public & media that support & try to Implement As soon as Possible to implement this Project.
Because this road will also make more beautiful patna & decrease traffic Load on digha , Kurji , Gandhi maindan , PMCH , Patna city road. It will also play important role to make Ring Road In Patna.
I am reading this news from last 24 hour but No Body comment on this constructive Project news. If Bihartime post news on politics & castism then 20-30 comments will post. So I will Request to viewer of Bihar times that post more comments that Impact message that People of Bihar is excited from this driveway for Patna.
