Sewa Yatra: Protest against rampant corruption as Nitish suspends CO

Patna,(BiharTimes): Thousands of people gathered outside the block office of Katra block of Muzaffarpur district to protest against rampant corruption and loot of public money by officials during the chief minister Nitish Kumar’s Sewa Yatra.

They raised slogans against the chief minister and the state government and openly questioned the claim of Susashan (good governance). They alleged that corruption has increased manifold after the implementation of Right to Service Act and no official wants to work.

Though they shouted and yelled for two hours the chief minister remained confined inside the block office meeting the officials. They became furious as to why the chief minister had not responded.

While some people charged that huge bribe is being demanded for caste and residential certificates others alleged that not a single work has been done in the last six years. Pointing towards the pitch road they alleged that it was laid down just a couple of days before the arrival of the chief minister. There is no power in the village nor have they been provided flood relief money.

A woman was heard shouting that they are not getting any food under Public Distribution System.

Nitish later announced the suspension of Circle Officer of Katra, though the local people were more critical of the Block Development Officer and other officials.

Elsewhere in Muzaffarpur district the situation was more or less similar. At one place an elderly man was heard saying that the history would not forgive him for systematically destroying the education system in Bihar.
