However, the school bus, which crushed Neeraj Kumar, a Class VI student of Sardar Patel Government Primary School, to death around 7 in the morning, could not be identified as the driver sped away with the vehicle.
Reports said that Neeraj was crossing the road while returning from tea stall.
Though the traffic was sparse in the morning hours, yet a few people present at the spot managed to partially take down the registration number of the bus. But the killer bus and its rowdy driver could not be traced.
Local people later blocked the road demanding speed breaker as speeding vehicles are taking heavy toll of life in Patna these days.
Even though winter is yet to reach its peak heavy fog is making both driving and crossing the road difficult. School timing and meeting of deadline by drivers cost quite a few life not only in Patna but elsewhere in the country every year.
Neeraj was reportedly crossing the Hardinge Road on his way back home near Shah Gaddi Masjid slum after buying tea when the speeding bus hit him. The family members of the deceased have lodged an FIR at Sachivalaya police station in this connection.
Eyewitnesses said that the bus was on way to Chitkohra bridge from the Shaheed Smarak near the Assembly.
