According to Principal Secretary Health, Amarjeet Sinha, the medical college buildings at both the places should be ready to start operations by April 2012.
Talking to media on Monday he said on an average 3,500-5,000 patients visit each Primary Health Centres every month now against only 39 patients in 2006. In the past year, about 6.25 crore people received treated in government-run medical colleges across the state.
The National Rural Health Mission, which pumps hundreds of crores annually to Bihar, has much to do with the sharp rise in the number of patients visiting primary health centres.
On the opposition by Bihar Health Services Association (BHSA) against introduction of biometric systems for doctors, Sinha said he did not mind marking his attendance through the system everyday.
He said he is personally ready to do it and the system would soon be applicable to all the employees in the department. This move is aimed at bringing and ensuring accountability and transparency in the system.
Only recently BHSA general secretary Ajay Kumar said if the government wants to correct the functioning of various departments, the same rule should apply to all gazetted officials of the state. Why is the government biased against the doctors? he had asked.
